easy easter décor

Rustle up your craft supplies and load your glue guns ‘cuz it’s…

Even though we’ve gotten a lot of snow this week, spring is definitely in the air around the PiG PeN! The move has inspired us to do a LOT of spring cleaning. It’s also inspired us to clean up our online closets—The Markets, Facebook page and blog {coming soon}—and check things off our To-Do list!

While cleaning up some old posts which didn’t transfer well from Blogger to WordPress, I ran across a fun Easter tutorial I created for May Arts a couple of years ago. So, grab your skateboard and jump in your DeLorean ‘cuz we’re ready to hop back in time…

Supplies:

  • 4.5” of May Arts Ribbon or other ribbon per egg
  • Bella BLVD Family Dynamix Alpha+Bits and Just Write Journaling Stickers or alphabet stickers
  • Bella BLVD Family Dynamix Quadrants, Quattrofina Spinach & Pickle Juice, Tight Knit and Cute Cuts or scrapbook paper
  • 6 Plastic Eggs
  • 8 1/2” x 11” Cardstock
  • Scissors and Paper Trimmer
  • Glue Dots Ribbon Adhesive & High Tac Adhesive or hot glue

Directions:

1. Add ribbon adhesive or hot glue around the bottom edge of the plastic egg top. I found it easiest to open the egg so the adhesive or glue was adhered to the top half only. I wanted to be able to open the egg after attaching the ribbon.

2. Attach ribbon and trim end.

3. Cut 6 strips from the Quadrants or scrapbook paper. Cut two of each size: 3/4” x 4”, 1” x 4” and 1 1/4” x 4”.

4. Create a ring with each strip and seal with adhesive. Place eggs on rings and decide how you would like to display them.

5. Attach 1 Alpha+Bits letters or alphabet sticker to each egg to spell, “Easter.”

The eggs are adorable at this point but I loved the Bella BLVD Family Dynamix collection so much that I couldn’t help but create a cute little backdrop for the eggs!

6. Take a sheet of 8.5” x 11” cardstock and cut a 2” lengthwise strip. Score each end of the strip at 1” and 2”. Fold ends and set aside.

7. Trim your background papers—Tight Knit and Cute Cuts or scrapbook paper—to fit the 6.5” x 11” piece of cardstock. I used a decorative edge on the green paper to simulate grass. Attach papers to cardstock.

8. Embellish the backdrop with ribbon, stickers and paper. I created the flower stem with the letter “L” and the leaves are the center from an “e.”

9. Attach the folded strip 1/8” from the bottom of the back. This will allow the backdrop to stand up without falling forward.

10. Place backdrop behinds eggs. Ta-Da!

We created little Easter cards for you, too!

I hope you had fun hoppin’ back in time with me and that you’re inspired to create easy Easter décor!
